Revenue Code Enhancements

In v9.5.1 we have made time-saving improvements that will eliminate billing mistakes for clients that do some or all of their billing for institutional (UB) claims.  We have added support for specifying default prices on Institutional Revenue Codes and for including Revenue Codes within Fee Schedules and Contracts.

In prior versions, the pricing information had to be manually entered for all new claims created with only revenue codes (no HCPCS Codes required) which was a hassle and could lead to mistakes.  In addition, users can now take full advantage of the Fee Schedules and Contracts features.  Here’s a list of the improvements

  • The Institutional Revenue Code screen has a new field “Price” so users can set a default price that will automatically populate on to the institutional claims.
  • Revenue Codes can now be used when creating a Fee Schedule based on the Medicare Fee Schedule.  Any Revenue Codes present for the customer will be added to the Fee Schedule but set to their default price set in the Institutional Revenue Code screen.  Medicare does not provide or publish pricing information for Revenue Codes.
    • Similarly, you can update an existing Fee Schedule based on the Medicare Fee Schedule and the pricing values for Revenue Codes will now display but they will default to the price set in the Institutional Revenue Code screen.
  • A new Fee Schedule “Option” has been added to allow users to control which price to use in the event that both a HCPCS and Revenue Code are present on the charge.  By default, the HCPCS pricing will be used unless the option is changed by the user.
  • All other Fee Schedule related features that currently apply to procedure codes have been extended to Revenue Codes, including reporting and interfaces.
  • Revenue Codes have also been added to Contracts and their related features.  For example, a warning will display when payments posted are different from contracted amount.
In the video snippet below you will see the “Options” button clicked and the new drop down to apply pricing based on HCPCS or Revenue Codes. In addition, you will see the new field “Price” under the Codes section, related to Revenue Institutional codes.
